My photography journey began in the labor and delivery room. As a doula, I would pick up my clients phone or camera and snap pictures of my clients meeting their children for the first time. Those images- I did not care what they looked like or how I captured them- I just wanted them to be able to look back on those photos and remember. Remember the excitement, the labor, the happiness and pure joy they experienced when they held their baby for the first time. After having a photographer watermark images I had taken, I decided that it was time for me to get my own camera. My husband bought me my first canon- a camera that I quickly out grew. I wanted to work on my imagery as I knew I needed to improve. I started with my children, moved on to my friends children and now enjoy capturing for clients.
It is with great joy that I revisit my doula roots one to two times a year. This year I doula'd my 22nd doula baby into the world. It was an amazing and beautiful experience. I have permission from the momma to share the images of her birth with you. May they remind you of your own birth(s) and get you excited if you are expecting yourself.
And this image here- this is the look a mother makes when she really looks upon her newborn baby. I see it every time. This look of a mother's love. She looks gorgeous doesn't she?
Thank you to the mommy for letting share her birth.
Thank you for taking a look.
